    ( 16 days,15 nights )

    Pantanal Brazil

    Day 1: Rio de Janeiro
Arrival in Rio, reception and transfer to your hotel.

    Day 2: Rio de Janeiro
After breakfast, a half day visit to the Tijuca forest, a luxuriant tropical forest only minutes away from this huge metropolis of Rio. Return to your hotel.

Day 3: Rio de Janeiro - Iguazu
Transfer to the airport for the flight to Iguazu. Reception and transfer to your hotel.
Excursion to the fabulous UNESCO World Heritage Iguazu falls, the most voluminous falls in the world and more than three times the width of the Niagara Falls. The falls lie on the three borders of Brazil, Argentina and Paraguay. The tour will include a "Macuco Safari" an exhilarating boat ride on the Parana river, heading towards the Iguazu falls themselves. Return to your hotel.

Day 4: Iguazu Falls - Argentina side
Today, we will cross the border and enter Argentina for a closer view of these magnificent falls. Set in a subtropical rain forest reserve of over 180,000 hectares, Iguazu is home to jaguars, pumas, caiman and over 400 species of bird. It also offers a chance of seeing the falls close up. Return to Brazil and your hotel.

Day 5: Rio – Campo Grande - Panatanal
Transfer to the airport for your flight to Campo Grande. Reception and transfer to the Pantanal Lodge, Fazenda Rio Negro some 240 Km away. The journey will take around five hours in air conditioned vehicles but affords the passengers a fabulous opportunity to see this largely unknown part of Brazil.

    Day 6 – Day 7:   Pantanal Excurions
The Ecological Refuge in the middle of the Pantanal has comfortable rooms with air conditioning, ceiling fan, and private bathroom.
The tours include several trekking routes into the Pantanal, horseriding, fishing, and trekking.
Animals seen in the Pantanal include capybara, capuchin and howler monkeys, caiman, anteaters, small wolves, puma, jaguar and anaconda. Amongst the birds that commonly inhabit the area are cormorants, anhingas, skimmers, herons, egrets, toucan, parakeets, blue macaws, ibis and jabiru storks.

Day 8: Campo Grande - Manaus
After breakfast, transfer to the airport for the flight to Sao Paulo and your connecting flight to Manaus. Transfer to your hotel.

    Days 9 – 11: Amazon Cruise
Afer breakfast, transfer to the port for the boarding of  your expedition boat to explore far up the least inhabited river in the Amazon, The Rio Negro. You will explore the forest by foot or in launches, enjoy swimming in the cleanest water in the world, visit local settlers that live deep in the forest, and spend a great deal of time observing the greatest collection of wildlife on earth.

    Day 12: Amazon Cruise
Today we will arrive at the beautiful Rio Jauaperi river and spend the day in this unspoiled and lovely rainforest area.

    Day 13: Amazon Cruise
We shall proceed down the southwestern bank of the Rio Negro observing the different wildlife found on this side of the river. Our walks and explorations of the forest continue and our list of creatures observed grows.

    Day 14: Amazon Cruise
Today we visit the village of Novo Airão. We will walk through the streets and marvel at how the 19th Century thrives in this remote corner of the globe. We travel through the night to the confluence of the Amazon and Negro Rivers.

    Day 15: Amazon Cruise
This morning we visit the Lago Janauari Ecological Park where the thick brown water of the Amazon flows swiftly through the forest. This area is thick with life and we are almost guaranteed to see monkeys. We then travel to the “mixing of the waters” the stark several mile long line where the world’s two largest rivers, the Amazon and the Negro, join in a turbulent maelstrom. In the evening we will return to Manaus and overnight on the boat.

    Day 16: Amazon Cruise
After breakfast, we will disembark for the transfer to the airport and your flight to Rio for your connecting flight home.
